Peterborough Head of the Nene offers events over both long (5,000 metre – 8+ only) and short (2,500 metre) courses.
Unlike other events at Peterborough the Head of the Nene is run from The Embankment near the City Centre rather than the Club. This allows us to boat more crews at once and gives crews a shorter row to the start (you lucky things you!)

Update on the status of Peterborough Head of The Nene
As of 14:00 on Friday 1st February the head race is ON.
The Organising Committee have been monitoring many weather forecasts along with current river conditions and have concluded that the forecasted conditions whilst cold will be acceptable for racing. Over the last 48 hours we have seen no snow in Peterborough nor was there any harsh frost this morning. The River Nene remains with a benign flow as we would expect and weather conditions have and continue to match those previously forecasted. The temperature tonight is due to remain above freezing although this may drop marginally below zero during the early hours of Saturday, climbing to a high of four degrees by late morning. To this end we would advise all competitors & those attending the event who will be outside for long periods of time to please layer up in suitable clothing and boat with hats and possibly gloves. Please make sure that you have read and understand the ‘Competitor Information and Safety Instructions’ below. Please note that boating cut off times will be enforced rigorously and crews will be excluded should they miss these times or the ‘in position’ times as stated in the above instructions.
