It is with great regret that I have to inform you that the organising committee have been forced to cancel Peterborough Head on Saturday.
River levels have remained stubbornly high this week, even though the rain has been relatively light. The river today is at levels at which boating is not safe. More rain is forecast for tomorrow and there appears to be no possibility that the river level will fall to safe levels by Saturday.
I know that you will be disappointed by this news but I hope that you have received it before you have loaded boats in preparation.
Refunds of entry fees will be given in accordance with our policy as stated on the event poster. As soon as we know what our abortive costs are then appropriate refunds will be made.
Thank you for your support and we hope to see you in the summer at our regattas here in Peterborough.

About
Peterborough Head of the Nene offers 3 divisions of racing, with events over the long (5,000 metre) and short (2,600 metre) courses.
Unlike other events at Peterborough, the Head of the Nene is run from The Embankment near the City Centre rather than the Clubhouse. This allows us to boat more crews at once and gives crews a shorter row to the start. Please note, there is no supply of drinking water at the Embankment, all competitors and spectators should bring sufficient sustenance with them for the day.

Entries
Entries will open at 20:00 on Wednesday 10 December 2025 and close at 12:00 (noon) on Sunday, 1 February 2026, unless earlier due to oversubscription.
Updates
Update 5th Jan 2026: Division 1 has exceeded capacity, so we have setup a waiting list on BROE. Any subsequent entries to Div1 will be reviewed during the draw and only accepted if we have space. Div2 is ~40% full and Div3 is ~70% full.
Update 12th Jan 2026: Divisions 2 & 3 have now reached capacity. All entries received after this date will be on the waiting list for the respective division. We will review capacity during the draw (Sunday 1st Feb) and do what we can to accommodate up to our maximum limit.
Update 1st Feb 2026: The draw and start order for each division have been published together with the competitor instructions and safety plan (all links below). We tried to accommodate as much of the waiting list as possible, but demand was greater than we can safely fit into the racing day. The organising committee are also monitoring water levels and will provide further updates on course conditions later this week.
