Event Date: Saturday 24th June 2023 - Saturday 24th June 2023
Details
Our Peterborough Junior Championships regatta returns on Saturday 24th June 2023. We have returned to a one-day competition structure, but maintained the very successful time trial format, which creates more competitive racing and provides a greater number of competitors with a second race (compared to our previous knockout format).
All racing will take place from a stakeboat start on our purpose built 1,000m course at Thorpe Meadows. There will be 4-lane side-by-side time trials, whereby the fastest times across all races in an event will seed crews into ABCD finals. So go as fast as you can in the time trial, then its first across the line in the finals for the win. Gold, silver & bronze medals will be awarded to crews in the “A” finals.
Doubling up is permitted between divisions (at competitors own risk), but not within a single division. Events attracting a large number of entries may be split into groups, with crews being randomly assigned into “Blue/Green” categories and medals awarded to the crews in the “A” final of each category.
There is also the coveted Victor Ludorum trophy, which is awarded to the most successful club/school. This was a closely fought battle last year, will Hinksey Sculling School be able to retain their title?
We also have trophies for the best cox and best watermanship shown throughout the day, so show us your skills!
You can keep up to date with everything on our Twitter and Facebook channels.

Update: 19/06/2023
The draw, timetable of racing and competitor instructions are all now available to download via the links below. It was a massive entry this year, more than we have ever received in previous years, with a number of events filling up within the first few days. We have accommodated as many crews/competitors as our schedule will allow. There are 152 races to get through, with 4-lane racing taking place every 4 minutes from 08:44 until 18:48. We need your support and cooperation to ensure the day runs to plan. Full details can be found in the competitor instructions, but please ensure crews are boated and ready to race in plenty of time.
Our team will be commentating on the racing throughout the day. If you have something you’d like announced during a race, you can submit commentary notes against your crew via www.raceleader.co.uk.
