Our Junior Championships Regatta returns on Saturday 27th June 2026.
Four-lane side-by-side racing on the purpose built rowing lake at Peterborough’s Thorpe Meadows next to the River Nene. A competition specific to junior 13, 14 & 15 athletes, racing over a 1,000m course.

26/06/2026 Weather Update
Over the last few days leading up to the event, the Regatta Committee have been reviewing the weather forecast and have put extensive research and planning into mitigation measures to ensure we are able to run a safe regatta.
The Regatta Committee have been monitoring the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) and data to ensure conditions are safe to run a rowing event. This is the widely considered method for assessing suitability for running sporting events.
The current forecasted peak WBGT is currently safely within the parameters to run an event but the committee will be monitoring this continuously to ensure safe parameters are maintained.
We once again would like to remind you to follow the British Rowing RowSafe 8.2 guidance and to familiarise yourself with our hot weather guidance which was issued recently to all coaches.
Currently we believe running a full race schedule is safe. However we will be constantly reviewing conditions throughout the regatta. Depending on the WBGT we may need to boat athletes in batches, remove minor finals, and/or determine results based on time trials.
Officials will not permit athletes to boat unless they have applied sunscreen, have water with them and are dressed appropriately. Where possible athletes should wear long sleeved kit and also wear a hat that covers the head, not a visor. Our priority is to limit time on the water as much as possible to avoid extensive exposure to the conditions. Boating times must be strictly adhered to please.
The clubhouse has several air conditioned areas including the gym that all are welcome and encouraged to use to keep out of the heat. We also have a water station for hydration.
