A Safe Return to Rowing – Update 08 December 2020

Following my notice of a week ago I have updates on several matters concerning the operation of the club.

  1. Members living in Tier 3 areas

Shortly after my notice that the club was able to reopen there was further guidance and clarification about travelling by people in Tier 3 areas to lower Tier areas. In accordance with this new guidance I am pleased to say that members in Tier 3 areas can now come to the club for outdoor exercise as individuals. Such members can now book to single or to ergo outdoors.  However, attention is drawn to the fact that if you live in a Tier 3 area then Tier 3 rules apply even when you are at the club.

  1. Gym opening

I am pleased to tell you that contractors are booked to start work on the new ventilation system on 14th December. The work should only take about 1 week. This has been delayed by the process of securing a grant but as most of the £18,000 cost will now be covered by the grant it has been well worth the wait. Once this work is complete we can set a date for reopening the gym so more news on this will follow soon.

  1. Face coverings inside the club

To enhance our Covid safety measures & to comply with Government guidance we are adding a rule that people going inside the club building other than to get boats and blades must wear a face covering. This will not include people when training in the gym when it reopens but does include coaches and when moving around the club. From now on please make sure you bring a suitable face covering with you.

  1. Car park entrance gate

In case you have not seen it there is a new gate to the club car park intended to stop non-members using it. This gate will be locked when the club is not open so please don’t use the car park to go for a walk, for instance, without checking when the gate is to be closed. In addition please don’t park and leave your car in front of the gate when it is locked as this may block it being opened.

  1. Christmas opening

So that you can plan ahead I can tell you that the club will only be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. So no reason not to keep up the training!
