Peterborough City Rowing Club (PCRC) qualified two crews for the prestigious Henley Women’s Regatta, one of the premier events in the domestic rowing calendar.  Competing on the world-famous Henley-on-Thames course, the club was represented in both the Aspirational Single and Aspirational Quad categories.

The Aspirational Quad, racing for the Chairman’s Trophy, featured a formidable crew of Sarah Watson, Gina Gould, Claire Widdowson, and Bianca Manganiello,. Despite a spirited performance, the crew was knocked out in the first round by a fast-paced boat from Furnival Sculling Club.

In the Aspirational Single category, Eleanor Dean took to the water for the Churcher Cup. Dean faced a tough draw in her opening heat, coming up against a highly competitive sculler from Rob Roy Boat Club. While Dean rowed with great technical discipline, her opponent proved too strong on the day, eventually progressing through the draw to reach the event final.

Though the results didn’t go their way in the knockout stages, the experience of competing at such a high level is invaluable for the Peterborough athletes. Qualifying for Henley Women’s Regatta is an achievement in itself and highlights the club’s ongoing commitment to fostering competitive excellence and continues to put Peterborough on the map within the national rowing community.
