Peterborough crews had a successful weekend at Nottingham returning with 5 wins and 1 second place.
The event took place over 6 lanes at the National Watersports Centre’s 2 kilometre rowing lake, where on Saturday crews competed over 2000 metres, then on Sunday they competed over a shorter 1000 metre course.
A crew that came away with two medals was Keely Watson, Bianca Manganiello, Claire Widdowson and Sarah Watson in the women’s quad, after winning on the Saturday by 21 seconds ahead of Loughborough over the 2000 metre course. On the Sunday they won the final against 5 other crews, finishing 6 seconds ahead of Becket Rowing Club, and they were the only crew to achieve a time that was sub 4 minutes in their event.
Ian Palmer took home 2 medals on the Sunday, after winning the Masters D singles by 3 seconds ahead of Nithsdale and Doncaster in a nail-biting final. He later joined Chris Elder, Dave Smith (Leicester) and Gualter Graca (Leicester) to win their composite Masters C Quad, crossing the line 12 seconds ahead of Nottingham Rowing Club.
Palmer and Smith also competed in the Masters D double and took second place in the final.
The last win came from Kate Read and Linda Dennis, who did well to win the Women’s championship doubles event, finishing 4 seconds ahead of Thames Scullers.
