Peterborough City Rowing Club capitalized on home advantage this weekend, securing five victories at the annual Peterborough Spring Regatta.
The two-day event saw over 800 crews and over 1,700 athletes compete across 117 separate events.
Saturday Success
The club opened its account on Saturday with two victories:
Open 2x Band 1: Tom Calver and James Plumb delivered a hard-fought performance to challenge the leaders in a highly competitive double sculls final.
Sunday Masters Wins
The club’s momentum continued into Sunday, with the Masters squad delivering three further wins and an inspiring milestone in adaptive rowing.
Masters Men D 8+: The crew of Alastair Brown, David Elks, Iain Cameron, Damian Roberts, Andrew Manning, Barry McCann, Ruairi Moore, and Kenny Low, coxed by John Canton, finished a credible second in the mixed Mens Masters B/D final. In doing so, they clocked a time of 3:32.7, setting their fastest time on the Peterborough course.
The club also fielded a Men’s Masters F 4x, featuring visually impaired rowers Andrew McMullon at stroke and Steve Ackerman at the two-seat. Having joined the club in 2024 through the ‘Row the Rhythm’ initiative, McMullon’s transition to racing highlights the club’s growing commitment to competitive adaptive rowing
