Peterborough Summer Regatta 2019 has been cancelled on the basis of the current weather forecast
The Organising Committee of the Regatta has been monitoring the weather forecast closely and, regrettably, it has decided to cancel the Regatta in the best interests of safety of all competitors, spectators & volunteers.
The Organising Committee, in conjunction with a professional weather specialist, have monitored the forecasts for several days & looked at all options available and it was unanimously agreed that to cancel both days of racing was the only course of action given the current predicted weather.
The expected strong winds (circa 30mph) and gusts (circa 40-50mph) will mean that the conditions may be unsafe for travelling to the event with trailers as well as potentially unfair and even unsafe to race in.
It was decided by the Organising Committee that the main priority is the safety and welfare of all participants. It has been a difficult decision to make, and one that has not been taken lightly without proper consultation and consideration of all the possible alternatives. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the weather forecast means we have no choice but to make this decision.
A full refund of entries fees will be made in due course.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who had entered or who had volunteered to help at this event and are sure that you fully understand our decision given this non-seasonal weather.
